Harry Potter and the Visit to Oxford
As the title of this entry suggests, I went to Oxford this weekend, and my primary influence for going to Oxford was Harry Potter. Another one of my ISA friends is obsessed with Harry Potter, so she outlined all of the places we could visit where scenes from the movies were filmed.
We spent all of Sunday exploring Oxford. First, we went to a Christmas Market at Oxford Castle. Apparently, it’s the biggest Christmas Market in England (I’m not actually sure if that’s true though). Next we went to The Bear, a local pub, where we enjoyed a Sunday Roast. But it wasn’t a proper Sunday Roast…I only had Roast Beef, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and brussel sprouts Oh well! (I might be able to have a real Sunday Roast this weekend…of course I’ll let you know and post some pictures as well).
Then, the Harry Potter tours. We visited the room that inspired “The Great Hall”, a staircase used in Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets, and we glimpsed the room used as the “infirmary”. There were several other Harry Potter things we could have seen, including an “exam room” and courtyards, but we couldn’t fit everything into one day. And we were satisfied with the things we did see.
We finished off the day by climbing up a narrow spiral staircase to a viewpoint around the dome of a cathedral in the city center. We shuffled along the narrow edge seeing panoramic views of Oxford.
We could have spent an entire weekend exploring all of Oxford. It’s a beautiful city, and maybe one day I’ll be able to visit it again… Enjoy the pictures!
